About the Australian Labradoodle Breed

The Australian Labradoodle was originally bred for people who needed a service dog but suffered from dog allergies. Crossing Labradors; Poodles; American and English Cocker Spaniels; Irish Water Spaniels; and Curly-Coated Retrievers; a new, hypoallergenic breed was created that also prioritized temperament, resulting in a hypoallergenic, service dog. Also, they are extremely loving with kids, so when supervised, they are very compatible with children. They are very even-tempered dogs that are trainable, loyal, affectionate, playful, and hypoallergenic.

Lovely Temperament

An Australian Labradoodle is very relaxed around people. They are curious and can be playful as well. Having just the right amount of energy,  they make the perfect companion. They tend to be calmer than regular labradoodles or cockapoos due to the background of breeding with service dog roles in mind. Additionally, they are extremely intelligent, and because they are eager to please, they are easy to train.
Since they love people and want to please them, the puppies have the potential to grow into the perfect service dogs or therapy dogs.

Life Expectancy

Our Australian Labradoodle puppies are bred to have a long-life expectancy. Therefore, our pups typically live between 12 and 15 years.

Hair Types

The Australian Labradoodle generally has two hair types: fleece or wool. Fleece-coated dogs have a wavy hair type with a very silky touch. This hair type is non-shedding, and easier to maintain.

Dogs with a wool hair type tend to be curlier, more similar to a poodle, and are also non-shedding; they are the most hypoallergenic. This hair type feels more like cotton. The amount of maintenance depends upon the hair length, and the shorter you keep it, the less maintenance it will demand.

Loose fleece is easier to brush and manage, while the wool coats are the most hypoallergenic but harder to brush. Both types of coats need careful management when the puppy hair changes to the adult coat because it can easily become matted during this process.

Coat Colours

The Australian Labradoodle comes in numerous colours and patterns, from black to white and all the colours in between, with the final coat colour often changing from puppy colour, and sometimes changing with the seasons. The colours can vary from solid to multicoloured. An important reminder is that the colours of an Australian Labradoodle puppy might not be the same as in an adult. Sometimes, the hair colours will change over the years both in shade and intensity.

Black-pigmented puppies can have tones of silver, chalk, cream, gold, apricot, red, and/or blue. Brown-pigmented puppies, on the other hand, can have tones of caramel, cafe, chocolate, lavender, and/or red. We focus on a chocolate and red line, although depending on the sire, other colours such as caramel and cream or black are possible, sometimes with white markings.
